Ying Wa College Photographer Badge
Photographer ID badge for a school photography club
Ying Wa College has strict rules around camera use during school events. Students cannot freely photograph sports days, swimming galas, or other occasions without authorisation. For members of the Photography Club to move freely and do their work, they needed something that made their permission visible at a glance.

Brand Identity

Process and Strategy
The badge had to do one thing clearly: identify the wearer as an authorised photographer. But it also had to carry the club's identity, not just function as a generic pass. The design needed to work quickly in the context of a busy school event, where a teacher or staff member needed to recognise it from a distance without needing to read it carefully.
Creative Solution
The card leads with large brushstroke Chinese characters 英華攝影, which fills the top half with immediate visual weight. The club's green aperture logo sits below it, followed by "Ying Wa College Photographer" in green at the bottom. The brushstroke style gave the badge personality and a sense of ownership without compromising legibility. The green identity carried through from the club's existing logo, so the badge felt like it belonged to something.
Results
Members had a badge that communicated authority and club identity in one object. It made the practical need feel considered rather than administrative.

I take on a small number of projects at a time. That's intentional. The work is better for it.
