Process and Strategy

The brief called for a narrative short film to build anticipation for the event. Rather than producing a straightforward promotional piece, I helped shape the video around a fictional love story — a format that would draw viewers in emotionally before the event branding landed. My role covered cinematography, editing, and light directing, which meant I had to hold creative coherence across the whole production.

Creative Solution

I treated every location — the MTR, a cafe, outdoor streets, a night cityscape — as a mood rather than just a backdrop, letting the visual language carry the romantic tone without over-explaining it. The edit paced the story to feel cinematic while keeping the runtime tight enough for social distribution.

Results

The video resonated strongly on social media, earning genuine engagement from the student community it was made for. More personally, it marked the first time my work circulated beyond my immediate school network, opening a door to a broader creative community in Hong Kong.
