Columbia is one of the world's leading outdoor apparel and footwear brands. I've been working with their Hong Kong team for over two years as a creative production partner, responsible for bringing their content briefs to life across social media, in-store displays, their mobile app, and digital campaigns. Over that time I've delivered close to 170 pieces of work — a consistent weekly rhythm of social content punctuated by motion design and video projects that demand a different level of craft.

Process and Strategy

This is a brief-led relationship. Columbia's team determines the content direction and I execute it, maintaining brand consistency across every format and platform. The discipline here is different from brand-building work: it's about speed, reliability, and producing at a standard that a global brand expects, week after week without slippage. The ongoing nature of the relationship has made me deeply familiar with the brand's visual language, which means I can move quickly without sacrificing quality.

Creative Solution

Motion design is where I contribute most distinctively. Beyond executing briefs, I bring design judgment: questioning the approach, and proposing better ones when needed. That thinking shows up in UI animation for the app, social content, CNY campaign animations, in-store TV panel visuals, and video edits. The common thread across all of it is motion that feels considered rather than decorative: every element moves because it needs to, not just because it can.

Results

Motion design at this level remains genuinely difficult to source. The skill set that makes this work — how to serve a brief without losing design judgment — is rare, and that's what has kept this relationship going. For a brand that needs to stay active and present across multiple channels simultaneously, consistency is itself the result.
